Throughout her life the Spanish flagship Santisima Trinidad was the focus of attention wherever she appeared, and Nelson certainly found her so, making straight for her in the course of his unorthodox manoeuvre at the Battle of St Vincent. Here we see Nelson's HMS Captain, 74 guns, at the left, engaged with the great ship. To the right of Santisima Trinidad, in the distance, HMS Culloden brings up the British line to Nelson's eventual salvation. In the right foreground appears the Spanish 120-gun San Josef, which Nelson was to capture, famously, in the confusion later in the battle. Following serious damage in this battle, in the course of repairs Santisima Trinidad had further cannon added on the upper deck, giving 136 guns in all, making her in effect a four-decked warship and very famous on that account, although in fact she remained somewhat smaller and less powerful than the latest French 120-gun ships.

For larger pictures that are to be shipped we can use perspex instead of glass for security in transit - we may contact you to discuss this. Frame example shown above.
