HMS Captain was a new type of warship, designed by Captain Cowper Coles, a British naval designer who had seen service in the Crimean War. Unhappily, Coles overreached himself in designing Captain with two heavy turrets set too close to the waterline and a mass of masts and sails, Together, these made the ship extremely unstable. The Captain capsized during a storm in the Bay of Biscay in September 1870, taking her designer and most of her crew to the bottom.

For larger pictures that are to be shipped we can use perspex instead of glass for security in transit - we may contact you to discuss this. Frame example shown above.
