HMS Namur was a magnificent second-rate 90-gun ship and we see her in her pomp in Mark Myers' painting. When Admiral Boscawen took her over as his flagship she was a new ship and had conveyed General James Wolfe to Canada before his capture of Quebec.

Namur's fighting record is extraordinary; she took part in the capture of Louisberg and served as Pocock's flagship at the Battle of Havana in 1762. Namur was behind Nelson's HMS Captain at the Battle of Cape St. Vincent as late as 1797. Even then she was not finished, being razeed down to a 74-gun ship in 1805 and fighting under Strachan when his squadron took on the remnants of the French and Spanish fleets fleeing after Trafalgar.

Framing

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON PAPER

We use a simple classic frame, gold finish over a black ground, approximately 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) in width with off-white acid-free mount 2 1/2 to 3 inches (6.5 - 7.5 cm) wide. Pictures are framed under glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging.

For larger pictures that are to be shipped we can use perspex instead of glass for security in transit - we may contact you to discuss this. Frame example shown above.

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON CANVAS

For pictures on canvas we use a simple classic frame with a gold finish and a white slip next to the canvas, approximately 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) in width. Pictures are framed like an oil painting with no glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging. Frame example shown above.
