A superb, very large work in a small limited edition of only 100 prints.

About 400 miles east of Nova Scotia, the US frigate Constitution sighted HMS Guerriere. Constitution, being to windward, closed, shortening sail and prepared for action. HMS Guerriere’, recognising the US ship, hove to and fired the first broadside - which fell short.

The two ships started to exchange broad sides at very close range and it was not long before Constitution’s heavier guns proved fatal. Firstly, Guerriere’s mizzen mast fell overboard and overpowered the rudder causing the ship to foul the mizzen rigging of Constitution. Shortly after both Guerriere’s remaining masts fell. Lacking any manoeuvrability she was unable to avoid Constitution’s continuing broadsides which quickly reduced the British ship to a wreck. Firing a cannon away from Constitution, she then struck her colours. After the crew had been taken off Gurerriere was set ablaze and she blew up and sank.

Framing

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON PAPER

We use a simple classic frame, gold finish over a black ground, approximately 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) in width with off-white acid-free mount 2 1/2 to 3 inches (6.5 - 7.5 cm) wide. Pictures are framed under glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging.

For larger pictures that are to be shipped we can use perspex instead of glass for security in transit - we may contact you to discuss this. Frame example shown above.

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON CANVAS

For pictures on canvas we use a simple classic frame with a gold finish and a white slip next to the canvas, approximately 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) in width. Pictures are framed like an oil painting with no glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging. Frame example shown above.
