Limited Edition Print on Paper

The American Clipper Electric passing the bay of Guanabara, Rio de Janeiro, with the Sugar Loaf Mountain off her starboard bow, 1854.

The medium clipper Electric was built at Mystic, Connecticut, in 1853. She first operated in the trans-Atlantic trade between New York and Le Havre but in 1854 she left New York for San Francisco; this is when she passed the Bay of Guanabara, Rio de Janeiro and the Sugar Loaf Mountain as shown in this superb Limited Edition print. Electric then resumed her place on the trans-Atlantic route. In the 1860s she was sold to a Hamburg company and sailed between that port and New York. On the 7th November 1872, at Latitude 40 degrees North and Longitude 55 degrees West, Electric was abandoned leaking, although mercifully all her crew were saved.

Framing

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON PAPER

We use a simple classic frame, gold finish over a black ground, approximately 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) in width with off-white acid-free mount 2 1/2 to 3 inches (6.5 - 7.5 cm) wide. Pictures are framed under glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging.

For larger pictures that are to be shipped we can use perspex instead of glass for security in transit - we may contact you to discuss this. Frame example shown above.

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON CANVAS

For pictures on canvas we use a simple classic frame with a gold finish and a white slip next to the canvas, approximately 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) in width. Pictures are framed like an oil painting with no glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging. Frame example shown above.
