(As Artist's Proofs, the prints are numbered using Roman Numerals, e.g. I/XXXVI)

"On her third voyage in 1872 the Cutty Sark got the long-awaited chance to race the Thermopylae home in the same weather and under the same conditions. Both left the mouth of the Shanghai river on June 18th. Both were held up by fog. When the weather cleared they sped down the China Sea and exchanged the lead several times over the next four weeks. Eventually the Cutty Sark gained a 400 mile lead ..." (from the Cutty Sark archives).

This wonderful Limited Edition print shows the Cutty Sark had already set her studding-sails when the fog cleared and a wind blew up, whereas Thermopylae is less ready, having her mainsails still backed in a hove-to position.

Framing

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON PAPER

We use a simple classic frame, gold finish over a black ground, approximately 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) in width with off-white acid-free mount 2 1/2 to 3 inches (6.5 - 7.5 cm) wide. Pictures are framed under glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging.

For larger pictures that are to be shipped we can use perspex instead of glass for security in transit - we may contact you to discuss this. Frame example shown above.

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON CANVAS

For pictures on canvas we use a simple classic frame with a gold finish and a white slip next to the canvas, approximately 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) in width. Pictures are framed like an oil painting with no glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging. Frame example shown above.
