This tranquil scene by Frank Wood depicts the penultimate destination, before the breaker's yard, of many fine British warships. One exception in this painting is the large Dreadnought of the Royal Sovereign Class, to the right. She is almost certainlyRevengeawaiting a refit in Devonport Dockyard. Ahead ofRevengelies a Basilisk class destroyer and astern is possibly H.M.S.Anenome, launched in 1915 as a minesweeper of the Acacia class. Astern ofAnenomelies a cruiser of the Lancaster/Cumberland class.

In the centre is a reciprocating paddle tug of the Dromedary class and ahead of her is H.M.S.Vengeance. Behind her is another running ship, a cruiser of the Cumberland class, possibly evenCumberlandherself. Foreground left is a 'trot' of oldish destroyers, the ship in the foreground looking like a D class Thornycroft 30 knotter. And beyond her lies another Pelorus 3rd class cruiser almost certainly also awaiting a tow to the breakers.
