The second battlecruiser to be built for the Royal Navy,Inflexiblewas completed on 20 October 1908 and commissioned at Chatham Dockyard under the command of Captain H.B. Torlesse RN. The three ships of the Invincible Class,Invincible,IndomitableandInflexible, were as revolutionary in their concept as wasDreadnoughtand they were held by the British public in very similar esteem to that iconic battleship.

The Invincibles were not quite so heavily armed but were bigger and much faster, carrying very much less armour protection.

Inflexible'sgretest moment of triumph was undoubtedly the spectacular defeat she andInvincibleinflicted on Admiral von Spee's squadron off the Falklands in 1914.Inflexiblewas present at the Dardanelles in 1915, where she was damaged by shell fire and heavily mined, and was part of the 3rd BCS at Jutland. Paid off at Sheerness on 31 March 1920 she was sold in 1922.

Framing

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON PAPER

We use a simple classic frame, gold finish over a black ground, approximately 1 3/4 inches (4.4 cm) in width with off-white acid-free mount 2 1/2 to 3 inches (6.5 - 7.5 cm) wide. Pictures are framed under glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging.

For larger pictures that are to be shipped we can use perspex instead of glass for security in transit - we may contact you to discuss this. Frame example shown above.

PRINTS & PAINTINGS ON CANVAS

For pictures on canvas we use a simple classic frame with a gold finish and a white slip next to the canvas, approximately 3 1/2 inches (9 cm) in width. Pictures are framed like an oil painting with no glass and fitted with wire ready for hanging. Frame example shown above.
